Spread The Shred would like to thank our Sponsors and Dena Carr at the Garland Theatre for making this event possible, and being part of the local collective of snowboarding . We live in a great area, we have a solid mountain community so we say that events should happen more often, family friendly, just to give back to the scene that we love. So come on by and get to know your area mountains , local shops, and watch some creative snowboarding films. You might just go home with something new?

Well, Dec 17th was a my first true powder filled day of the season at Silver Mountain Resort in Idaho, and oohhhh was it sick. They kept Chair 4 closed until about 9:45am but with all that access to that terrain it didin’t matter, there was tons of powder inside and outside of the trees, with open fields of untracked freshies! Actually with the temp staying around 28 degrees, the powder wasn’t to0 heavy like was expected from the generally warmer temps and the had 6″ of fresh fall overnight… needless to say I was slashin everything in site, launchin every pillow and laying down great lines, you know how it is on a powder day!

The fog got kinda thick up top of Chair 2 for the morning but, still awesome visibility the whole day and the sun finally burnt through the glow of the fog by late morning. Silver Mtn is a great place for the steep and deep when the timing is right, they still could use alot more coverage in certain areas but all around super fun terrain. We had lunch on the Chair ride up around 1pm, that was nice for energy midway through the powder slaying session. Here’s a few more photos, I’m going to bed, I’m beat… the 1st photo is of the blast crack off at the top of Sunset! Have fun this weekend EWNIS!

Up at Mt. Spokane today for my opening day, super sunny and barely anybody up except for a few midweek marauders, testin out the park setup and goofin around. The terrain park really only consisted of 6 features, 5 that were usable, with a rainbow to start then take your pick from a smaller rainbow on the left and a barrel bar on the right which leads into the corragated flat down, all of which were decent fun for a early season, a few standouts from Levi( the guy in the Boston jersey) he was killin the rainbow with tail 270’s, buttering the shit outta of the barrel bar and tailbonkin 450 out on the tree jib (ninja), going large to flat. Big ups to Keller, Levi, Connor and his crew and all the other heads who were up today for sure. Here’s some pics, action still on the way. This process is slow…Enjoy EWNIS!!!!

All EWNIS mountains have finally opened, and the season is just beginning, terrain parks are usually slow to build, but Mt. Spokane supposedly has 70 percent of the park up, with rainbows, boxes and corregated features. Schweitzer has a butter box and a 28′ flat box and great powder. 49N also has a limited set up with some boxes and a corragated pipe also. It looks like more snow is needed before Silver mountain is going to really start developing their park, but is going to feature a advanced/expert line of features named the “Ripper’s Line”, pretty sick huh, it looks like Silver is taking after Schweitzer in it’s aspect of park building and allowing the people who ride there to really push their abilities. We’ll just have to wait and see what the park crews have in store for us this winter, time to shred, finally!
Dying to shred after hearing how sick Lookout Pass was this past weekend, I finally broke down for a solo mission today at Mt Spokane, YA BOI! On the drive up there you could see a little storm system hanging out around the top so I wasn’t sure if it was raining or what, being fairly warmer and all. No way, it snow pretty steady the whole time I was up there, and really turned it on right as I was leaving. Underestimating my resourcefulness and goodluck, I wasn’t sure how much fun this was gonna be. With one little shovel, a snowboard and the super stoke on my side and after a few minutes of surveying the area, I noticed what looked like a 8 foot log about 18 inches in diameter, on the new soon to be Tubing hill below the Ski Patrol shack, and off I went. Turned out to be corrogated drainage pipe which is perfect for sliding. After some light work to make a line with a small hit off towards the bank everything turned out great. Here is some pics and maybe a video. Solo missions are fun too… just not as much. My level of stoke is elevated, Enjoy!

P.S. Congratulations to MARTIN BERAN on his internship with skinwrockies, I’m sure you’ll be an awesome shredbum. LOL
P.S.S No video, they all sucked!/
Heading up to the Kan on this past wednesday, we were super stoked to see what the actual accumilation had been, and make something of it. I was a little under the weather, I think it might have been my wife’s meatloaf… although delicious, it did a number on my tummy. Upon arrival my wife notice that there was a cute little jagged rock that had pierced the tire, and was leaking air so bad it sounded like a jet plane. That put a damper on the mood for 10 min until I was done changing the tire, now were rolling on a donut son, too fly! We also happened to run in too a bunch of like minded shredders, who came better prepared with boxes and pipe jib, here are some pictures of the adventure too give you a good idea of how much snow really was up there.

Stoked to see this guy show up!

Going up to Mt Spokane tomorrow for a little site seeing, maybe I’ll take my snowboard and see what there is to offer. Boy am I over anxoius!
This is late last season, the day after 49 closed. We used the rubble patch where the used to be a hit, built a small fun hit closer to the old knuckle and used the side of the next mowed down kicker to link a line together so it was actually really fun. Shovel bonkin, to board throwing, to sunburning… good times were had by all!

Late season 49 fun... in short, T chucked his board down the hill about 200 yards after not being able to land anything for like and hour, Martin retrieved it after his turn, brought it back to T... next try he stomps a front 5, that's what I call teamwork...lol!
